What else is the holiday season about but taking stock of the way we treat each other? I am not just writing about the way we treat other people, but also about the way animals are treated. Unless we start eating less meat, factory farming will only get worse. So why not try serving your guests a vegetarian Christmas feast, and who knows, you may be able to extend the good will into the New Year!
You do not believe you can present a substantial meatless menu? You think that you need to have some meat as the centerpiece of a fine dinner? Let me present some great ideas for fantastic main dishes that are innocent of animal flesh. If you do not tell them, your guests may not even realize they’ve eaten a meatless holiday meal!
A lot of vegetarian and vegan main dishes are cheaper than meat meals too. Why not take the excess money and give it to your favorite charity. Your meatless Christmas is sure to fulfil the spirit of the season that way!
Simple Vegetarian Main Dish Ideas
Cabbage Rolls, Lasagna, and other Casseroles - For cabbage rolls, meat can be replaced with rice. Hey, it’s the sauce that counts anyway. You can also use vegetarian meat substitute if you please. If you eat dairy, it is simple to leave out the meat in your favorite lasagna recipe. If you are vegan, soy can substitute for dairy cheese.
Lentil Meat loafs and Burgers- We found a lo of recipes which call for using lentils as a substitute for ground beef or pork. The cooked lentils can be cooked well and blended with typical other ingredients for a healthy, inexpensive and delicious faux meat meal! Some recipes call for eggs, but if you are a vegan, you can find many recipes that do not require any animal products at all!
